Canadian Management Centre has partnered with The Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) to bring you The Building Blocks for Successful Managers Series. This series will provide managers with the knowledge, expertise and tools to advance their careers.

This Four-Part Series of three-hour workshops will include:

  1. Communication Techniques for Strong Work Relationships presented by Frank Byrnes on October 14, 2008
  2. Getting Results Without Authority presented by Carol Laurence on October 23, 2008
  3. Improving Your Project Management Skills: Basics for Success presented by Pat Masters on November 6, 2008
  4. Finance Fundamentals for Non-Financial Managers presented by Karine Benzacar on November 25, 2008

These workshops are designed to give you a preview of our courses in an easy three-hour format. Pick up tips and practical applications you can use immediately back in the office.

FINANCE FUNDAMENTALS FOR NON-FINANCIAL MANAGERS

In today’s uncertain economy, when every manager is being held accountable for the bottom line, you have to be finance-savvy. In this three-hour workshop designed as an introduction to Canadian Management Centre’s Fundamentals of Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Managers course, you will learn some of the basics of finance to help you in your day-to-day tasks on the job.

  • Basic accounting principles
  • Key finance terms: assets, liabilities, capital, revenues, expenses, equity and others
  • Overview of the key financial reports
  • Profit and loss statements
  • How finance is used to obtain buy-in on proposals and support decisions
